Experience

I've dedicated my career to the mental health field since 2005. I completed my M.A. in Counselling Psychology, specializing in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, and have predominantly practiced in private settings ever since. My clinical experience spans a broad spectrum, focusing on individuals grappling with various mood and anxiety disorders, alongside those exhibiting traits of perfectionism and a pronounced inclination for self-criticism.

My Ph.D. in Psychology focused on the intricate realm of self-critical rumination and its profound influence on self-esteem. This phenomenon revolves around the relentless habit of self-condemnation and introspective scrutiny.

Furthermore, I have invested time in honing my expertise through specialized training in Metacognitive Therapy (MCT), which zeroes in on the cognitive mechanisms governing our thoughts and how we relate to them. I registered as an MCT practitioner in 2019.

Beyond my clinical endeavors, I hold the role of Senior Lecturer within the Division of Psychology at London South Bank University. My academic responsibilities encompass both undergraduate and graduate instruction. I conduct extensive research in the field, with a primary focus on self-criticism and the intricate processes underpinning the initiation and perpetuation of worry and rumination. These processes are particularly pronounced in individuals grappling with anxiety and depression, providing valuable insights for the development of effective interventions.

Special Interests

I work primarily with the various mood and anxiety disorders, such as Major Depressive Disorder, Generalised Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Social Anxiety. I am also very interested in working with individuals who have a very loud voice in their head telling them that they are not good enough. I have worked with individuals from various personal and professional backgrounds who struggle with low self-esteem and high levels of self-criticism.

Fees

Session fees are £90 per hour. I am also registered with most major insurance providers (small admin fees may apply) and am able to arrange a brief telephone conversation to answer any questions that you may have before booking an appointment.
